[TYPO3] Test whether a TMENU has sub menus

In my tree I have some pages with some sub pages.  Some of the top 
pages don't have sub pages.  Some do.

I have an HMENU with two TMENU's, pretty much exactly like the example here:
http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/core-documentation/doc_core_tsbyex/current/view/7/2/

What I want to do is, when a page has no sub pages, I want it to to 
say "(no subpages)" after the link.

I have the newest version of Typo3.  I'm new to typo3 but I've read 
the docs extensively and I can't figure out how to do this.
