[TYPO3] New server probs

Please, help? I am tearing my hair out.

The people that were hosting my sites server went down, and it has been 9 days.

I had a backup (homedir) of the site, so created a new typo3 (3.8 same as on the other server)

I uploaded the Typo3conf files to the new one (not the localconf.php)
Changed the name of Typo3conf/ext and uploaded the one from the backup
did the same with the typo3/ext dir.

Uplaoded my backup of the sql file.

Everything works okay (finally) except there are no images on the site at all, except the ones in fileadmin (template images etc.)

I uploaded all the images in typo3conf from the backup to the new typo3conf.

Am I missing something stupid.

I appreciate any help, I am lost.
