[TYPO3] sr_sendcard - ecard - and php 5.1.2

I am trying to get sr_sendcard (the ecard extension)
to work with typo3 running on php 5.1.2

I am getting the following error although I have
correctly followed the user manual. 
Has anybody gotten it to work while using php 5.1.2? 
Does anybody know to get it to work using php 5.1.2?

My error message:
Fatal error: Cannot access empty property in
/typo3conf/ext/sr_sendcard/pi1/class.tx_srsendcard_pi1.php
on line 280

My system:
typo3 4 final
sr_sendcard  	2.0.3
php 5.1.2
