[TYPO3] BE Login error - Fatal Error

I've modified the localconf.php file to remove the extension from the 
line: $TYPO3_CONF_VARS['EXT']['extList'].  No difference - I'm still 
unable to login into the BE.

Do I need to do anything further to "reset" the login back to the original?
