[TYPO3] Constant Editor - ereg(): Invalid preceding regular expression

hello list

i have a problem with a  typo3 - 3.8.1 installation
already searched in google, but didn´t really find a solution

whenever i change any value in the constant editor, i get the following error, 
one time for each changed value:

Warning: ereg(): Invalid preceding regular expression 
in /home/.sites/31/site904/web/test/typo3/t3lib/class.t3lib_tsparser_ext.php 
on line 1065

i´m very poor at php, but i think it has to do with some configuration of the 
providers server. 

i tested this on several installations on the servers of the provider, always 
the same error
for this here there is no DNS - entry, tested this by writing IP into the 
hosts - file ...
