Helen,
I have never tried it....
but typo3 core should work with M$sql using dbal as the abstraction
layer (yes there is one :)
Unfortunatly loads of extentions from TER still use direct mysql calls
not using the the abstraction layer.
Most extention if not all (as far as I know) which come with typo3
v3.8.0 should work ok (not tested).
but not out of the box, ofcourse....
dbal uses adodb as the abestraction layer between dbal and the DB.
