Hi,
>>I am not offended by them. I would probably haven't bothered with
>>replacing them if Kasper used some Renaissance paintings or old icons.
>>But there are people who prefer to be offended while they are not. I
>>dislike them as much as the ones knocking on my door early Saturday
>>morning to inquire if I had already found Jesus. Consider this -
>>would I feel safe using TYPO3 for a govenment web project and
>>knowingly put my client in danger of being sued by some ACLU zealot
>>or a fired employee over something like this?

An Asian perspective to this discussion.
Honestly, I had never visited Kasper's Korner till I saw this post today, and honestly, I was, I must say, a little shocked, specifically with the wish: " *don't use TYPO3 for NewAge publications, anti-christian messages, sexually explicit material, extreme political propaganda* ". Now, I would agree with possibly everything else here, but the publication of New Age Publications, and anti-christian messages.
Much as I would like to respect Kasper's ethics/morals, as I found him to be a brilliant and very inspired person, who I praised to the skies, once we got back to office from Tyco3, I would be unable to follow two things, namely: "*don't use TYPO3 for NewAge publications, anti-christian messages,*".
I am not publishing any anti-chrisitan messages per se, but who will stand judge to what is anti-christian? I have personal problems with Jesus/Mohammed/Islam/Christianity being propagated as the "only true way to God", which is at best ridiculous.
Most New Age publications talk about Humanistic values which are integrating for the world. Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. are all based on universal values of love and compassion which is not different from Jesus's message in any way. And New Age is about Humanistic values. And in case, I start publishing things against, conservative and shallow-minded approach of people around the world, I would probably have to face ridicule from the Typo3 association or some lobby at Typo3 - this is a thought, that scares me.
I know many people would have read many ridiculous discussions about Hinduism/Buddhism/other Asian religions as well; but that is a matter of understanding and debate and acceptance that many sick things enter society as years go by; and it might be a great idea to setup a discussion channel using Typo3 itself, which discusses and integrates people of the world on humanistic values "that work"; as opposed to obscure and fanatic thoughts which I believe have incorrectly been attributed to Jesus/Mohammed/Krishna/Buddha/others. This would be a great service to to our ailing and collapsing world.
I would actually, like some clarity on this, as honestly, I am about to put up a website which talks about several of these religious issues harrassing India (and I know most of the world as well, but I'd like to start service at home first), and many of those could be seen promotion of what is often called NewAge material, and may sound anti-christian and anti-islam (not to mention even anti-hindu, and anti-buddhism), by conservatives, and shallow minded people.
So, will I be ridiculed for thinking that we are children of the same God, and all ways lead to the same God?
Also, why must I have to believe in God at all (I think athiests with humanistic ethics are often better), for loving Typo3 and using it, to campaign against, say, Bush's war in Iraq - who will stand judge that this is extreme political campaign or no.
I must say, I love Typo3, and would continue to use it, without having to be bogged down by my conscience.
Honestly, it would have been "politically correct" for someone coming from a "developing country" following a different religion, to make a statement on this "touchy" issue. But I guess it is an important one, and since we are bringing greater democracy to the running of Typo3, this needs to be addressed as well - and democratically.
My two bits, and a representative answer, on behalf of almost 2-3 billion followers for the world's oldest scriptures, culture, religions and philosophies.
Thanks,
Rahul Dewan
