Hi Simon,

I don't want to discuss about any of the moral aspects, here are just some
technical things to consider...

Isn't it great that TYPO3 contains a lot of modifications just to make it
work on a system it was not designed for?

If you think that there is not enough documentation on that topic, consider
that it probably would be easier to remove all these changes again... :-)

So in fact you prefer ease over flexibility and speed? I'm sorry.

TYPO3 uses GraphicsMagick/ImageMagick for doing graphic operations because
it is much faster than GD is! However it still uses GD because some things
are not possible with IM/GM.

It is no problem to drop support for ImageMagick and force everyone to use
GraphicsMagick instead. No problem if you are going to give support for
everyone getting problems with this...

They are searchable!

We are not using a forum because newsgroups are far more flexible. I want to
keep mails offline and be able to read them in a train.

There is a nice tutorial for those who are not familar with newsgroups yet
(see signature). And if someone doesn't like newsgroups for some reason, he
can still use the mailing lists which are 1:1 in synch with the newsgroups.

We are currently looking out for a good software to provide web based access
to these resources. It will not be a forum because a forum is flat, but it
will be web based. See typo3.teams.typo3org for more information.

Regards, michael
