We are at present supporting five separate installations of Typo3 on
the same webserver all using the same 3.8 source. This will grow to
maybe 20+ installations and I am wondering what our policy should be
regarding local or global extensions.
I would be grateful for any comments or advice. In particlar about:
1. If the installations use local extensions when a security alert
means immediate upgrade of an extension this may mean repeating this
20+ times but global extensions would mean only one upgrade.
2. What is the situation with a new release of source code. e.g.
upgrading from 3.8 to 3.8.1. I normally install the new source on the
server and change the symlink in each installtion. With global
extensionw will I need to then install the full list of extensions I
have manually added?
Are there any other benefits or problems with installing all
extensions globally?
