[Typo3] Styling a table?

Ok, I didnt really understand that.

I noticed that when creating a table you can choose layout 1, 2 or 3. 
Does that mean that I can type something like .table_layout1 {styles} in 
my stylesheet or is THAT accessible from within Typo3?
