[Typo3] Direct Mail and News Content not Showing

Greetings,

News content does not appear in my DM messages. I'm beginning to get the 
hang of Direct Mail by testing categories, plaintext e-mail, etc. One 
goal is to send parts of our News content elements. I've reviewed 
Marlies' tutorial and looked at the testsite example. Since news is 
working fine on my site, I thought including it in a DM message would be 
simple, but so far, I have no news.

Just today, I thought I solved the problem. I found a constant in the 
newsletter template for the News PID. I set it to the news sysfolder and 
then to the news display page, but neither choice appeared to have an 
effect.

If I Show the newsletter page, should I see the rendered news? I 
thought, perhaps, that the news rendered only when creating the mail 
message.

Do I need to set the News PID in the Advanced Constants of the 
newsletter template?

Do I need to modify the template more? I'm using the default template 
mostly unchanged. I did  move it to fileadmin, though.
