[Typo3] Flexi content item PROBLEM

Hi list

Ive been recently making some flexable content items and have found what think you would call a bug. When you make a field and set it as "text area for bodytext" And then use it for bodytext... there is no way of breaking it up into paragraphs or even breaking a sentance !!!! 

All it seams to do is spew out a chunk of text wrapped in P tags... if you put a return when you are writing content it is ignored, then if you try to force it with a BR tag... it encodes the brackets so that it actually turns up on screen in your body text !.... such a shame, flexable content its such a nice feature of templaviola and typo 3 but  this is a little dissapointing.

Or am i wrong ??
