[Typo3] Phantom menus in Typo3

Hello Everyone:

I've got a question about some phantom menus I'm getting in typo3.

On our website, we get these submenus that appear on the top area. They 
basically show what's in the tree and I'm not sure how we can get rid 
of them (they list the items in brackets)

Examples:
http://www.johnsongtr.com/Press_Releases.838.0.html (top items are in 
brackets)
http://www.johnsongtr.com/Folk_Instruments.12.0.html (where it says 
[Traditional Instruments])

Can't find anything in typo3 to get rid of these. Not even sure why 
they're appearing on some menus and not on others.

If anyone has any tips, I'd greatly appreciate it.
