[Typo3] Front end user registration textarea processing

Hi list

does anybody know how I can keep the line- or paragraph breaks in the comment-textarea when a user registers with the font end user registration ext?

As it is, it throws everything out and leaves nothing but a mass of unformatted text.

Can you help?
