[Typo3] me & banners don't mix

I'm trying to get this working: EXT: Advanced Banner Management but I miss 
something

Do the banner module have to be placed on any page showing banners, is it ok 
to put the module in a sysfolder or should it be just on the front/root 
page?

I get this construction after replacement in my template:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
  <tr>
    
  </tr>

</table>

So nothing shows...

Any idea what I should be changing?
