[Typo3] Last update 2.2.4 and Typo 3.8 error

hi there,

i have used the lastupdate extension (v. 2.2.4.) in typo 3.7 without any 
problems. after switching to typo 3.8 i get the following error message, 
when using the extension:

Filereference, ".../typo3conf/ext/lastupdate/pi1/locallang.php", not found!

any idea why its looking for a language file, that is not there...? i 
did not change the setup typoscript (which was working fine before) and 
the rest of the site seems to be working ok.

a second question: any idea how to change the last update output 
according to language (different prefix/date-format etc.) without using 
the L-parameter (since i am using a two tree setup).
