[Typo3] Template with magic?

What can be the reason for the next strange effects:

It's about the cmw-linklist extension.

If I use the default template in the extension directory, all went well.
If I copy that template to my fileadmin directory, all looks well. Same 
layout, so far so good.
But the links don't work any more. And I can't find the reason for this 
behavior.

I know there was a security problem with this extension. I think it has 
to do with that.
But i like to have my template in the fileadmin directory. For the known 
reasons.

Who can give me a hint?

I wonder.
