[Typo3] extension kickstarter "total form" issue?

I'm working on learning something about the extensions in Typo3 and watching 
the videos for the extension kickstarter (episode 3). My problem is that I 
cant get to see the "field explanations" that Kasper gets in the video by 
clicking total form...

I'm running 3.8.0 but shouldn't that behaviour be the same? Are there any 
other way I can see this information (quite nice when being a total newbie)?
