[Typo3] TS to create a browse menu for records not pages

How can we create a browse menu with TS not php for records. The idea is 
like in the news plug-in when there are more than a certain amount of 
records there is browse option. It would be cool to create an HMenu for 
records also not just for pages.

Has anybody contemplated such a thing and found a solution?
