[Typo3] Conditional templates possible?

What's about this structure

Home (official) -> mounted to content
					--> Content
Home (new) -> mounted to content

To differentiate you could use dif. URLs i.e.
www.myside.com and dev.myside.com for development.

Just an idea not tested as we mirror a side to an other virtual host and 
do there all the changes, if major redesign is requirred.
