[Typo3] need help with a creating a basic extension

Hi,
I just followed the "Creating a basic extension" doc.
I'm trying to add my functions, but I keep having the Fatal  
error :"Call to undefined function"

I'm just adding a simple function like getItems() or getSingle()...

I did a grep on all the files, but I can't findd a file where a  
declaration would be required... please help...
