[Typo3] FE-user authentication against text file

Hi list

For one of our clients we need to have a text file as additional reference for fe-user authentication. Meaning if a fe-user wants to login typo3 checks if the user may login in a) the normal database and b) in a text file. If either succeeds access is granted.

The reason behind this: The client has an often changing user-list which is created in one of his databases. (holding some thousand users) New users are only added in the clients db and so at least once a week a new text file would be generated from the db to be uploaded to the server.

Does anybody know if this works?
Or do you have other suggestions?
