[Typo3] Fatal error: Call toundefinedfunctionmysql_pconnect()class.t3lib_

ARRghhhh... I turned out to be PHP. I replaced php-5.0.4 with php 4.3.11 and 
now I get to the install page. Any one knows why php 5.0.x isn't supported?
