[Typo3] Moving typo3 from subdirectory to root

Micheal, it the other thread doesn't say much to directly answer my 
question... I need to know whether just copy/pasting my files from a 
subdirectory to the root level would cause any problems.  If so, how can 
I fix them easily? And if there should be any precautions I should take 
before doing so.

Janno, what are symlinks?

Also, Typo3 has alot of files, I assume the best way to move them one 
level up would be shell access correct?
