[TYPO3-dev] pdf generation

Konichiwa, 

I'm looking for a solution to generate pdf documents.
The output is generated by a backend module (Extbase/Fluid) which creates
some reports. I want to export these reports as pdf. 
How can I achieve this?

There are extensions like e.g. pdf_generator2 but they will work in the
frontend only (if I unterstand the documentation correctly). Is there a
standard way to implement this?

I've googled a lot but I didn't find a solution yet.
