Any major release may contain breaking changes. Unfortunately for 
tt_news there are breaking changes which affect that extension. I guess 
Rupert has tested it, the problems and solutions are already reported to 
the bug tracker [1].
You have already announced that there will be a new release of tt_news 
around the time of the release of TYPO3 4.6 and we can only hope that 
these fixes are included.
