[TYPO3-dev] t3skin issue

I did something dumb.   I installed an old t3skin extension in an attempt to
customize my typo3 backend.   But this has actually made my backend all
messed up.  It looks like a mash-up of missing images and the old typo3
backend (circa 4.2 ish?)

Anyways I uninstalled the extension, deleted all of the files and my backend
is STILL messed up.

How do I get the normal look back?

And then.... after that....  what is the best way to customize the typo3
backend?
