I would say the press note about the release of TYPO3v4.2 was not right.
We were supporting PHP 5.1 from start and never introduced any 5.2
specific functionality, until 4.2.11. This slipped through because it
was "long ago" since a core developer thought about that 5.1 dependency.

In our new "version matrix" [1] PHP 5.1 is clearly stated for TYPO3v4.2,
because this is what we MEANT and I don't think we should break it.
Patch in core should fix it. Please comment, test and "+1" it.
