   * these patches have been applied to 4.3 as well
   * functionality does not break
   * behavior does not change
   * things still work with PHP 5.2 (and 5.1 [1]) without any differences

If there's any problem caused by any of such patches related to PHP 5.3 
compatibility, you can rest assured that I'll come after the those who 
handed the patch in, reviewed it and committed it, so be careful ;)

[1] Officially TYPO3 4.2 requires PHP 5.2, but the TYPO3 4.2 core 
actually only checks for PHP 5.1
