Moving the TYPO3 Core to another DBMS is the easiest part. A large part 
of the core can work on other systems by using the DBAL extension. The 
problem will be with the thousands of extensions available.

On the other hand, not many people expect the end of live of MySQL any 
time soon and even then the community and other companies can continue 
development. One of the advantages of an Open Source product.
