These things are often present because of a combination of: no time yet 
to fix them and perhaps forgotten, hardly used, nobody filed a bug report.

If you feel they should be changed (and at first sight I think they can 
be improved) please make reports in the TYPO3 bug tracker at 
http://bugs.typo3.org/
That way when someone starts working again on the install tool he/she 
can easily find the issues which were reported earlier.
