Hello everybody!
I have not read the whole discussion, so sorry if this is now inappropriate.
I understand Robert points and i think many more who have worked on a long
evolving product can understand him too. Sometimes it is better (and even
faster) to start from scratch than do some refactorings here and some
refactorings there and run into problems because you can not test the
product good enough because there are no UnitTests or you simply have not
the resources to test the whole application on every refactoring. So i fully
agree and appreciate that they started the FLOW3 project. I think the whole
TYPO3 Team does enormously much for the PHP community and inspires much of
us to become more professional.
So please TYPO3 Team - Keep up your good work. I think you are doing it
right - take your time.
Besides that i think the step to use Scrum as Programming Paradigma for
FLOW3 and TYPO3 Phoenix is also a good step. Maybe the "deadline discussion"
gets obsolete, when you make the Release Planning, the Iteration Planings
and the Sprint Reviews, and so on more transparent to the Community. I also
recommend the Book from Roman Pichler (
http://www.amazon.de/Scrum-Agiles-Projektmanagement-erfolgreich-einsetzen/ ),
if you have not read it yet.
The only thing i miss is more information about the progress, some more news
on the FLOW3 project site. What about posting a video after every Iteration
with the summary of the Sprint Review and some real world code examples how
to use it.
Thank you so far for inspiring people!!
Thomas
