The problem is fixed through #11968 - adding the X-UA-Compatible meta-tag.

Joey's opinion is that it's not enough, because it just prevents the  
logoff (by disabling switching to compatibility view) and not removes all  
the HTML / JS glitches which could cause these switches (which is IMHO  
quite utopian, but I don't want to discuss this here).

But for the stupid user: yes, it's fixed, also in 4.2 and 4.3

If it's fixed for you, feel free to transfer the money to whoever fixed it  
in your opinion.
