Strange.
I did the same yesterday and added a new user "coredevhelper" to the DB 
and now the SOAP API says "Benutzer nicht gefunden" with a backtrace 
thru auth_api, user_api->user_get_row.
I added the user via the normal interface in Mantis though - did you add 
your user/password raw via mysql?

I'd really like to get this part going :)
