[TYPO3-dev] Are performance improvements part of maintaincereleases?

Hi,

Well, this question is just a matter of release policy.
IMHO there aren't straight and clear rules regarding 
"what a minor TYPO3 release aka maintenance release" may consist of.

Comparing several minor releases since 4.0 you'll find various changes
some might be considered as bugfixes some may be considered as new
features, cleanups, performance enhancements etc.

Actually the decision whether a certain change will be part of the next
minor release or not is not 
a matter of the change's particular type it's a matter of its potential
risk regarding stability.

Well, and huge changes (huge code changes) usually involve higher risks
as a matter of principal.
