Crazy discussion, seems that noone really read the discussion in detail.
So for me this should be integrated. To lower confusion, try to retitle 
to "extend current api" instead of "there is no api".
I think with this, the patch already would be in, since the most 
comments seem like they only read the title, and then postet "there is".
