In October 2008 the core team decided to converge TYPO3 v4 and v5 in the
sense that we implement future features using the same paradigms. Of
course, this has limitations due to the fact that TYPO3 v4 is a grown
script app. I never intended to support only Extbase extensions. But I
prefer to implement a clean way for the future and apply a solution for
existing code (extensions and core).
That matches perfectly the Berlin Manifesto [1].
