Don't worry, MySQL will not die. Oracle and MySQL Community version have
different target groups. Oracle would be pretty silly if they stop MySQL
development.
Furthermore, even now there are promising MySQL forks.

The current status is that it's not running out of the box. To test it
put your mysql server in SQL strict mode (and use dbal). Failing queries
will also fail for postgres.
