i dislike this too, i hoped for a parameter or constant for magic setting.

The problem is on Debian - stable releases - that it's not poissible to 
update. The unstable branch has also a lot of bugs listed in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=libxml2;dist=unstable

The list doesn't look well anyway.

Do you know a way to get debian (lenny) updated?
