The Basic idea is great.

But they should be group a little bit more... To get the config 
understable by reading the line.

e.g.

mod.list.general.maxRecordSmallView = 50
mod.list.table.all.hideTable = 1
mod.list.table.[table].hideTable = 0

So [table] should overwrite 'all'.
Perhaps 'general' could be instead labeled as 'config'.
