in other words - you can't find out without trying.

But I can say that since now I didn't have any problems with typo3 and 
PHP5 - at least the 4.x branch should work without any problems with 
PHP5. In fact the upcoming 4.2 requires PHP5.
If you have an older installation and are thinking about an upgrade, 
it's really no big deal due to the great backwards compatibility. You 
can normally at least upgrade to any 4.0.x version without problems.

And for the extensions - I also had no problems yet - and if you use 
commonly used extensions there shouldn't be a problem either.

But if you want to be sure - tell us what extensions you use and we can 
tell you if we had problems with them on PHP5-servers.
