That is a horribly advice,

I find quite a lot of usefull information by using search engines.
Sometimes other people are more clear in what is put in teh  
documentation.

My advice:

1) look into the docs
2) Look into search engines
3) ASK!!!! (typo3 channel on freenode get's more buzy and lots of  
people are there)
