[TYPO3-dev] Crawler

I would like to extend/rewrite the crawler:

1) Add capability to crawl on defined timestamp e.g. only records since 
last crawling, only date>=today etc.

2) Add feature to crawl based on a google sitemap

What would be the best approach as for the moment there are no hooks 
available at the current solution.
