[TYPO3-dev] Status report for xaJax

Hello typoniks,

last week I updated xaJax to version 2.1 and set it to beta. xaJax
isself has the status stable on SF.

Namings:

The classes have got TYPO3 compatible names:

xajax -> tx_xajax
xajaxResponse -> tx_xajax_response

So if you update you will have to prefix your classnames in one or two
places.


Objects and functions:

In version 0.2.1 there is still one function outside of a class in
xajaxCompress.php. I got in contact with the developers to propose to
put it into tx_xajax. That will probably do this next.


Roadmap:

Eion also announces a "big fix for international  character sets".
Versions 0.2.2 or directly 0.2.3 will follow in short.

We should try to keep the TYPO3 version number synchronized with the
SF version.

Franz Holzinger is currently working on a xajax implementation into
tt_products.

After we have collected some experiences with it and enough
documentation available also the xaJax Extension will get the status
stable.


Documentation:

Lars Quitsch has kindly provided an example extension for xaJax usage
in the Backend: xajax_example.

Franz Holzinger plans to contribute something similar for the FE.

Maybe we could boundle it to one xajax_tutor Extension with all
examples and documentation.


xaJax Team:

xaJax updates follow quickly and need to be adapted to the TYPO3
naming schemes, some kind of search and replace. To implement updates
just in time I would like to found a little team of 3 that feels
responsible for the extension. That is one prerequest for me to set
the status to stable.

Anybody likes to join xaJax extension team?
