[TYPO3-dev] RC1-BUG?! PidInRootline malfunction under certain conditions

If I'm allowed to ask I'd like to know why 
"$GLOBALS['TSFE']->tmpl->rootline" is used and not 
"$GLOBALS['TSFE']->rootline" as it always contains the current rootline 
as far as I know. I'm just interesed in the backgrounds as I try to 
understand how typo3 works. You can send me a mail if you like (also in 
german which might be easier to write).
