That is not in contradiction to the TCA. All of your additional tables
would have a field with a pointer to the main tables uid.
The mayor problem is that of the automatic form generation. You can
select the right main table entry in each details form, but you don't
get a selectin from the main table to the details.
I have written an extension (elba), that supports an easy way for
construction of really complex joins in the TypoScript way. TCA fields
like hidden or deleted are automatically included, so you don't need
to set up most parts of the joins by hand. Only special parts of it
like search strings.
