[TYPO3-dev] "Extension chaos"

Hi list,

I just read the topic about frontend libraries, form-rendering libs etc.
and noticed again that so many people are coding their own extensions
with almost the same functionality not knowing of each other or the
possibility to join development.

I think that the community needs a change in some ways. There are so
many features that are needed by numerous developers and everybody is
developing his own workaround. I know that there is a "Extension
Coordination Team" (ECT) now which is the right way in my eyes, but this
is only handled over the wiki which is not present enought for the whole
community.
I don't know all the features of the upcoming TER2, but in my eyes the
extension coordination *must* somehow be handled over it and be present
on typo3.org itself.
We should also define "basic" typo3-extensions that are developed by
teams, not individuals like so many other open-source projects are doing
it to prevent extensions like "advanced_extended_simpleextension".

exampels for "basic" extensions:
- gallery
- forum
- blog
- poll
- rating
- partner framework (allready a project)
- etc.

I think it would be good to ask for "most wanted" basic extensions and
then vote for priorities or whatever.

Don't have the time to write some more ideas concerning this topic right
now, but what do you think about "basic" extensioms?
