[TYPO3-dev] How typo3 saves highlighted page in the page tree?

Hi

How Typo3 4.0.x stores the information,
what is the higlighted page in the page tree?
My customer would like to get that changed to point
the new page after new page has been created (now
it points to the page, for which the new page has been done).

It would be nice to start from certain page, when
the page should be hightlighted as default.

I tried to debug the info.
Not stored into $_COOKIE.
but must be somewhere because it is usable after
reloading the page tree.
