Actually I'm supposed to be a "filter" person only:
As documented on http://wiki.typo3.org/index.php/Newloginbox, 
newloginbox is currently maintained by Brice Bernard, he sends the 
patches to me for review, and I commit them. Since I haven't got patches 
for a while, nothing has changed since then. I'd be happy to transfer 
ownership of the extension to that "orphaned extensions" user.
