I've used the flash player you referenced on a couple site in the past 
and have been pretty happy with it.

It uses a pretty flexible playlist system and I started some basic work 
on creating a DAM extension to output this play list. I got pulled off 
on some other projects but if you're interested in collaborating, maybe 
I can find some time for it again.
